2023 Fall Bucket List Wrap Up

I thought I would do something a little different and actually wrap up my bucket list from last season, especially since I managed to complete everything on the list! I really think that making a concerted effort to check all of the boxes helped me to avoid being lazy and actually put effort into enjoying my all time favorite season.  Every year we get so busy around this time and I miss out on doing something I’d like to, but sticking to the list really helped me.  I’m a list person through and through.  I decided to update a couple of items from when I first posted my list to make some goals more Fall specific, however, it’s pretty close to my original list.

1) GO PUMPKIN PICKING

We went to Hank’s Pumpkintown out east in Water Mill with our group of board game friends and we had a blast! It was a bit rainy which worked out because as a result of the weather, it wasn’t very crowded. We did 3 corn mazes, picked our pumpkins, ate an apple cider donut, took some cute photos, and bought some sweet treats to bring home!

2) ANNUAL HALLOWEEKEND

Andrew and I had our annual Halloween movie marathon the weekend before Halloween. This year we watched (one of my new favorite movies this year) Totally Killer, and classics like Scream, Hocus Pocus, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and fall themed episodes of Gilmore Girls. Please enjoy my bullet journal spread :-)

3) BAKE PUMPKIN BREAD

I always love baking Trader Joe’s pumpkin bread every year but I always add in a bag of chocolate chips and it makes it taste even better! I totally forgot to take a photo but I happened to have an extra box in my baking cabinet.

4) VISIT A NEW STATE PARK

Andrew, my dad and I went to Cold Spring Harbor State Park one day and it was so nice! Again, it was a bit rainy so it wasn’t crowded and despite being a shorter hike, there was a lot of uphill walking so it was a good level of challenge for all of us.

5) BURN A PUMPKIN CANDLE

I’m shocked to say that this is actually the first candle I’ve burned in our house since we moved.  I have no idea why but I suddenly got very nervous about setting anything on fire in this house that we’re paying off a huge loan on lol. But I really enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to burning some Christmas candles.

6) BAKE APPLE COOKIES

This item was originally ‘bake apple crisp’ (and I actually did for Thanksgiving), but I changed it when I decided to bake apple cookies from The Fantastic Mr. Fox.  These cookies were so incredibly good and I really want to make them again with thinner apple slices! They tasted best right out of the oven, so I’m going to make them when we’re having people over and hope that a lot of them will be eaten at once.

7) JACK O’LANTERN NIGHT WALK

We attended Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns with my dad one night before Halloween and it was really nice! We were going to skip out this year since we’ve been so many times (last year we went to Blaze), but I’m really glad we didn’t! It was a really pleasant walk and I loved the new location for this year. There was an 8 foot tall Taylor Swift display which was awesome!

8) READ A THRILLER

This originally said to ‘read a book set in the fall,’ and while part of this book was set in fall, I switched it to read a thriller because my memory is the worst lately and I can’t exactly remember how much of it took place in the fall.  Everyone has been raving about this thriller and it’s a contender for Goodreads’ best of year so I’m glad I snuck it in right before nominations hit (though I didn’t vote for it).

9) DRINK A PSL

I mean, I should win my fall bucket list for this item alone.  Does it get any more festive than drinking a pumpkin spice latte out of an actual pumpkin?! I think not! We got these in Cold Spring Harbor at a super small coffeehouse!

10) MAKE A FALL COCKTAIL

I made a spiced apple cider sangria which was super tasty! I would definitely make another batch of this to enjoy next year.

11) ORGANIZE LIBRARY LIST

This item is not fall themed, but it’s something I really needed to get done because it was driving me crazy.  Since I have so many titles on my list, it was taking a really long time to scroll through, sort out, and pick what I wanted to read from my list of over 500 books.  Instead, I made lists for each genre so I at least now have a starting point for when I’m looking for my next read or hold! No surprise that fantasy, romance and thrillers are my top genres.

12) EAT PUMPKIN PIE

Wow, this pumpkin pie was amazing! They actually warm it up for you and sprinkle it with powdered sugar which was so tasty! Between the pie and the hot apple cider with a brown sugar rim, it was so much sugar overload that I couldn’t finish it all.  But thoroughly enjoyed it nonetheless!
